Real Estate SEO and Link Building

Building links for your Real Estate SEO campaign will be one of the hardest and longest tasks to complete, but will ultimately be the most rewarding. Establishing good quality links to your real estate website should be a never ending task. As long as you have your website you should be seeking to establish links to it. So with that in mind let me give you a pointer when building links to your website.

Seek out “Quality” links instead of “Quantity”. This is probably the most misunderstood element of link building for real estate agents. Many just want to build links and want to know how many you can build quickly. I have personally seen a real estate website with close to 300 links be the top ranking website for the most searched terms for their area, beating out a competitor with over 14,000 links.

How is it possible for a website with only 300 links to beat out a website with over 14,000? Simple… it’s the “Quality” of the links not the “Quantity”. It’s fairly easy to amass a great number of links to your real estate website by visiting real estate blogs and posting comments on them. This kind of link building may give you quantity, but may not give you the quality you are looking for to boost your rankings in the search engines. Look for high quality blogs to comment on and stay clear of the low quality ones. Look for blogs where a lot of people hang out. This is “generally speaking” an indication that there is a lot of fresh relevant content on the site and will be fairly popular with the search engines.

But blogs are just one way to build links to your website. Try writing an article and submitting it to online article publishing houses. Once again looking for “high quality” publishers. Also you could do a press release on your new website or a new feature your agency is offering, submit to high quality paid directories, ask a blogger to review your website and then write about it on their blog, building links to your website, try to get on the blogroll of some high quality real estate blogs, or create something different on your website that visitors really like, which will make them want to link to your website naturally.

Creating link-worthy content on your website is one of the best real estate seo link building techniques you can do. We have all found websites that have really interesting content on them and have bookmarked them. This is basically the same thing. You create something neat on your website, for example, maybe a cool mortgage calculator or some other buyer or seller tool. If people like them they will bookmark you or create a link to your website.

Ask yourself… What can I put on my website that is interesting, relevant, and will attract people? Make your website stand out above all the other “same” real estate websites and you will build links automatically.

So remember that it’s not the “quantity” of links to your site, but the “quality’ of links that matter. If you stay focused and don’t fall for the temptation to build a massive empire of links, but instead look for quality links, you will save yourself a lot of time and frustration, and inevitably rank better in the search engines.

Enjoy your link building! I know it’s a lot of work, but it will be worth it, and a very important part of your real estate seo efforts.
